A FERMANAGH lorry driver is one of the ten men who have been arrested as part of a Gardaí operation into a European-South American cocaine smuggling pipeline.

Detectives are continuing to question the ten men who were detained last Thursday in Leap and Tragumna in west Cork, during a major Garda anti-drugs response.

It is understood that the Fermanagh man is the only one of the men detained to have an Irish address.

An application for a second extension of the detention was granted amid indications that further searches are being conducted by Gardaí, with the PSNI now assisting the investigation.

Gardaí said that are being supported by police forces in France, the UK, Spain, the Netherlands and Portugal.

Last week, Chief Supt Vincent O'Sullivan said Gardaí were dealing with a sophisticated, well-resourced and well-financed criminal organisation, which was international in both its scope and range of activities.
