A joyous morning of intergenerational fun recently took place in Mullanaskea Pre School when nursery pupils and their families enjoyed a grandparent’s day.

Organised by Linking Generations NI, pupils from the Pre School enjoyed a fun-filled morning as they worked in the garden with their grandparents.

We are working with the older generation and younger generations to create bonds, it is something we have never done it before, “It is about making sure the older generation has the link with the younger generation”, explained June Crowe, Nursery Leader.

“We are working together and looking to adults as role models and exploring new learning from older generations.

Mrs Crowe explained: “Linking Generations are the facilitator, Enric has been fantastic, they have given us high vis vests for the children, hats for when we are out doing out walks, they gave us beautiful boxes which Harry (caretaker) made into flowerbeds for us stands for us.

“Skip service delivered the compost, Encirc gave us a grant to buy plants and signage, it was lovely of them and absolutely fantastic.”

As the morning came to a close, it was evident that moments like these not only enriched the lives of the participants b fostered understanding and appreciation across generations.
