Enniskillen 4 Banbridge 1

Enniskillen ladies secured another superb win at the Bawnacre as they continued their good recent form with a morale boosting 4-1 win over Banbridge, never looking back after racing into a 2-0 lead within eight minutes.
The visitors pulled a goal back before the break but the Enniskillen girls were not to be denied and bagged two further goals in the second half to win 4-1 and copper fasten their impressive start to the season which is building plenty of confidence within this young side and augurs well for the rest of the campaign.
As mentioned, the Skins girls got off to a great start. The first goal came from a Louise Noble run down the left, taking the ball into the circle and with a sweep towards the goal Kirsty Harron connected with the ball and slotted home at the post.
The second goal came from a pass from the influential centre mid Jill McCormick who found Sharon Hutchinson on top of the D who made a quick turn to score from a direct shot on goal for 2-0 and only eight minutes on the clock.
Banbridge by no means made it simple for Enniskillen and had the ability to challenge the Skins’ defence and in doing so replied with a pass from the right into the circle and their centre forward got to the ball before the keeper and made it 2-1.
It was great to see Lynsey Nixon return as sweeper and it truly felt as if she had never been away. She took charge of the defence and held her composure throughout to ensure the Banbridge attacks were quickly thwarted.
Ruth McClean used her strength and skilful reverse stick to get through the defence of Banbridge and her interlinking with Noble provided numerous opportunities down the left.
From the half time restart, Banbridge found some form and started to threatened in attack but, Fiona Knowles, who is gaining in confidence with every match and Wendy Walmsley, who found her feet in the second half, both dealt with the tackles and cleared the ball out of danger.
It was evident the experience held by Kirsty Murray, as she would work back into defence to assist and yet take the ball turn it around and drive up the pitch into attack.
It was well into the second half when Enniskillen were awarded a penalty corner. After previous failed attempts, a change in the routine meant a pass from Sharon to Jill on the left and at close range made no mistake to make it 3-0
Goal number four was a delight to watch with Sharon Hutchinson making a run around the back of the defenders and slipping the ball back off the back line to Noble on the penalty spot and she never hesitated  to score with ease and seal a superb 4-1 win.
Overall this was a great win with debutant Megan Elliott slotting into a non familiar position at right back and stepping up to the task while showing a glimpse of her true potential when pushing forward into attack.
Elsewhere, midfielder Olga Vautkericiene also showed a natural presence on the pitch by finding the space and running into it to gain metres of ground in Enniskillen’s favour. Next up is a derby encounter with Castlederg.
The club would like to thank Alex Knowles and Janet love for umpiring.
